Paradise and Little Falls

Paradise and Little Falls are about 18 km from Whitfield. This makes for just a short drive or a good mountain bike ride.

The best time to see these waterfalls is in spring when not only is there the most water but also because of the wildflowers.

Mount Cobbler

Mount Cobbler is about 50 km from Whitfield and is recommended for 4WD from Bennies campsite. For quite a long mountain bike ride (about 25km each way) Bennies is the obvious starting point. Mt Cobbler is almont 1650m above sea level and at about 1100m is Lake Cobbler. The walk to the top is about 5km each way and is a gradual climb for the whole distance but well worth it.

Bike Rides or Walks around Whitfield

The circuit from Whitfield to Cheshunt, along the Edi-Cheshunt road, Gentle Annie Lane and back to Whitfield is 13km. While this may sound a lot to some, the walk/ride can be broken up with a stop at Cheshunt and a visit to the Cheshunt General Store or Station Creek Restaurant/Winery or a swim in the King River.

A pleasant mountain bike ride is along Coopers Lane to the Whitfield - Lake Buffalo Road and back south along the Edi - Cheshunt Road. Beautiful views down the King Valley can be had from the top of the steep climb up Coopers Lane under the powerlines. Coopers Lane is 1km south of Gentle Annie Lane or 5km north from Cheshunt. There are some gates to be climbed over. The round trip is about 14km.

Bald Hill is again about the same distance as the previous two. This is especially impressive in spring when often snow can be seen on Mt Buffalo. A good starting point would be King Valley Cucina. Head north to Honeys' Lane and work your way to the top of the ridge. There are several alternatives, but I veered left past Kingview Cottage. Once on the ridge turn left (south). There are gates so make sure you leave them as you find them. Turn left down Peipers' Lane and back to the start. A good walk is to drive up Peipers Lane and out and back along Bald Hill.
