Gentle Annie Caravan Park & Camping Reserve

The Gentle Annie Caravan and Camping Reserve is two kilometres north of Whitfield and fifty kilometres south of Wangaratta. The King River runs through the park and campsites are available along the river. So with approximately 200m of river frontage you will never be far from the river.

Powered and un-powered camping is available as well as a limited number of on-site vans. Campfires are permitted but make sure you comply with CFA restrictions. There are many leafy trees to provide shade in summer and an amenities block with hot showers, toilets, dish-washing sink, microwave, tank drinking water, refrigerator, washing machines and clothes dryer.

Whitfield is the centre of the renowned King Valley Wine Region and diverse Italian and Mediterranean varietals can be sampled at the numerous cellar doors. If you tire of camp cooking there are many eateries close by. For take-aways (or eat- in if you want) there are the Cheshunt and Whitfield General Stores. For more leisurely dining, Gracebrook Stables, Mountain View Hotel, Dal Zotto's Trattoria, Station Creek and Whitty Café all offer a variety of tasty dishes.

An easy 25 kilometre drive to the south of Whitfield takes you to Lake William Hovell, for swimming, fishing and boating or just a picnic by the lake. It is at the start of the Alpine National Park where most tracks are open from November until the end of May for 4-wheel driving, hiking and mountain bike riding. The Mt Cobbler road is open all year round and in spring Dandongadale Falls can be an impressive sight.

Paradise Falls, Little Falls and Powers Lookout are some of the nearby scenic attractions. Lanes around Whitfield, Coopers La, Peipers Lane/Bald Hill Track, Whitty Lane and Belle Vue Rd at Myrrhee offer walkers and mountain bike riders some spectacular mountain views.
